how books and doodles make a difference

hello folks.

A few gifts from Amazon... from me, to me. :-)
The best kind.

When i was younger, i was full of questions.

Curious about everything from
why is the sky blue
to how do we know to breathe
to why do so many people wear fur coats in church. ;-)

Mom would answer most of my questions,
but whenever she got tired of the asking,
or no longer knew how to answer,
she would simply say:

"c'est un mystère de la vie"
(it's one of life's mysteries)

So when i saw this book,
you just know i had to buy it, right?

Plus, i love the cover design. :-)

This morning, i did this quick doodle
with Sharpie markers on photo paper
and wrote this...

It feels good to write and draw and doodle.

It helps me make sense of my world,
the same way music does
or watching the sunset
or the moon,
or feeling the wind on my face.

Enjoy the day - whatever that means for you.

If you don't feel like being grateful, don't.
If you feel like venting for an hour, do.

In the end, it really doesn't matter.

As long as you're breathing... :-)

love to all of you...

  1. I got part way through reading your post and I had to go check out that questions book. It is too adorable! Ordering it! Now I'm back to finish your post- your doodling reminds me of a meditative labyrinth!

  2. Pauline, I love your thoughtful poem.... and your colorful (doodle) pattern would make a great fabric print!

  3. Gorgeous 'doodle' sketches and words ~ lovely colors and so happy and bright ~ (A Creative Harbor) ^_^ aka ~ 'artmusedog' ^_^

  4. Fabulous looking books Pauline! Glad you're playing and creating again. xx

  5. A lovely and positive doodle, full of hope and love.
Your poem says so much of what I am feeling just now, such sensitive thoughts. So simple and yet so deep. Thank you for the poem, which will help me through the day.

  6. It always feels good to do what we are meant to do. Your words and your art brings happiness to those who are lucky enough to know you. Thank you.

  7. Hello Pauline, you're comforting yourself, taking it easy and doing what you love and that's great! Keep taking it easy and following what your heart desires!

  8. A special post raw and beautiful. I agree as long as you're breathing. Death puts everything in perspective.

    Hugs Giggles

  9. Beautiful words and a delightful doodle. It is wonderful that you allow yourself to feel two opposite emotions at the same time. Or that you acknowledge them, I should say. I think we often do, but people find that concept too disconcerting to believe it so they bury one.
    Wonderful healing post.
