A portrait of Richard Desjardins

This is Richard Desjardins,
another Canadian singer songwriter (from Quebec)
that I love.

I thought i'd attempt to do a very loose portrait of him
with my giant box of Crayola wax crayons.

I used a large poster sheet i had hanging around the house,
(2 feet x 3 feet)

I think his face is so interesting.

Or maybe I just have a thing for musicians?
;-)

Obviously a very loose drawing...

I ended up adding a bit of oil pastels to it
when the wax crayons just weren't dark enough.

Doesn't look much like him
but it's at least a portrait.
and it was so much fun to do.

I love the squiggly lines everywhere...

Happy Friday everyone!
Try to do at least one thing that brings
a smile to your face today.

Maybe go out and buy a box of Crayolas
and play.

xoxo

  15. Thank you all so much for the beautiful comments...
This creative community means the world to me.

Anne, i was listening to a CD by Richard Desjardins at the time, and was really just in the mood to have fun with Crayolas. I wanted a more expressive drawing, so i chose the larger format. (I tend to feel "looser" when i'm drawing big).

Have yourselves a great weekend!! xoxo

  17. Love it....who would have thought that with Crayolas you could come up with such a beautiful painting!!! And that song...I love it too! Richard Déjardins is right up there with the great poets such as Ferland, Vigneault and so many more!!! I'm not really the artist in our family, but I must say, I'm really enjoying spending time on your blog!

  29. What fun! I have been working on portraits for my art class. They are all in graphite and charcoal, but this makes me want to grab my kids' big box of crayons and sketch away. Nice work - Cheers!
