Good morning friends...
Happy Friday. :-)
Last night's quick painting...
This ended up looking nothing like
what i had in my head when i started it.
When i first began, i was thinking i would paint an older man.
As i painted, it looked more and more like a boy.
At first, i also thought i'd paint in black & white only.
But then i got the urge to add burnt orange
to the background.
And then to his eyes.
a boy with huge eyes...
who doesn't wanna miss
what's coming his way. ;-)
This just came out looking very different
than what I first thought it would.
It was done rather quickly - but still.
At least it was done. :-)
and this week, lots of goodies in the mail!
The HIGHLY SENSITIVE PERSON book
because i am a highly sensitive person
and sometimes find it hard not to carry
the weight of the world on my shoulders.
And the other book because sometimes,
i feel like the queen of procrastination.
i get things done, but when the time is right (usually always),
i can procrastinate with more style than anyone out there. ;-)
So THE WAR OF ART was written for me.
And when i opened the first few pages and read this:
"The following is a list, in no particular order, of those activities that most commonly elicit Resistance:
1) The pursuit of any calling in writing, painting, music, film, dance, or any creative art, however marginal or unconventional"...
i knew i hit the jackpot.
so now i'm procrastinating by reading about procrastination...
;-)
and this lovely little package i ordered on ETSY,
from Retro Whale.
i love the simple illustrations, and the concept of a good kind of crazy.
Some people spend $10 on nail polish,
or a grand double mochaccino cappuccino frappe latté with sprinkles and a cinnamon stick... ;-)
i'd rather buy an illustration.
and this... from the wonderfully creative Nigel,
who knows how much i love texture in art.
(thank you Nigel!)
check out the back of this journal...
how much fun is that?!
and these fun pages on the inside...
Can you hear them calling?
"fill me up! fill me up! i'm naked here!!" ;-)
And this little gem...
Spirited Away.
a movie i watched with my son several years ago.
The animation is spectacular, as is the story.
i will never be too old for animation.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Be kind to one another
and make art.
xox
I also love the movie Spirited Away and I love your little journal. HPPF!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing, Happy PPF, Annette G
ReplyDeleteLove your post, Pauline. I'm not too old for animation either. And your wonderful things that came in the mail, wow! The design on the back of that journal is pretty. I love the brown eyed guy you painted. Super.
ReplyDeleteGreat monochrome painting. The coloured background really make it pop!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with the mail portrait! I'm so reluctant to try males.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see you posting again...have to come back for the video....my eyes are so heavy...but I just had to read your blog before bed....wonderful guy you painted...Your blog always makes me happy...very nice journal too!

Male portrait is great. I have been meaning to read the Art of War but haven't. It is supposed to be a gem. I watched Spirited Away with my daughter, the animation is exquisite, truly a classic.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you back and posting again.
ReplyDeletelove the portrait, and have to say, your photos make the journal look much better than mine did :)
x
So good to see you again even if it on the blog only :-)
ReplyDeleteLove that face you've painted!
I have read a book about introverts during my summer holidays. A lot of things I recognized in there. Maybe I need to reread, there were many pages read in the late hours before sleep ;-)
Love your little mail-gift shower! I agree about buying art in stead of nail polish!!!
Happy PPF
Ilona xx
Beautiful and ecclectic art. I love the boy's big eyes! And your textured piece (stenciled) is beautiful as are the other's. I have all the sensitive person books (at work, in love etc.) They are so powerful! HPPF
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post..gorgeous creations..and I love his beautiful eyes..they are full of magic and beauty..fantastic! Happy PPF

Hi Pauline, here I am, your King!
ReplyDeleteHa Ha, if you are the queen of procrastination, I am the king,
I'll tell you I do not care procrastinating, is my essence, I can not go against my genetic mandate.
Sometimes procrastinating, good ideas come to my mind. You have not heard about "creative leisure"?
Thanks for your comment, you are always very friendly with me. :)))
The shadowing on that boy is just amazing! I loved seeing the process :)
ReplyDeleteWelcome my HSP friend. It's a great club to be a part of...even if it isn't always easy. I found that book incredibly helpful. I love the War of Art too. Totally felt like I was procrastinating by reading it as well! So many great goodies in this post, I could go on but just know I'm loving it all! xx
