tu m'aimes-tu?

I debated whether i should post this or not, only because i'm not happy with it.

Things just didn't seem to gel for me last night. Colours, composition, subject matter.
Maybe the planets weren't aligned. :-)

But I painted anyway, as i listened to french CBC (Canadian radio) - they play great jazz & blues
on Saturday nights, so it's always a treat to be in my little room, painting - even when
things don't feel smooth.

Near the end of the painting, they played a song called "Est-ce que tu m'aimeras encore?" (will you still love me?) and it just seemed fitting at the time. When i looked at it this morning, however, I wasn't so sure anymore. But either way, it's what i felt last night, so i'm leaving it as is.

We don't always love the end result, do we? Regardless of the end result though, if i can be in my little studio, painting while I listen to great jazz & blues, it's a pretty damn good day. :-)

Thank you all so much for your lovely comments... xoxo

Have a great Sunday everyone!

  1. I absolutely love it! Honestly! I love the collaged background, and the woman's eyes are amazing! And in my opinion, birds make every painting better. I wonder who is asking the question "will you still love me?" the bird or the woman.....

  2. I think this looks great! :)
I know what you mean by having days when the planets aren't aligned and nothing seems to work the way you want it to. But then if you are just having a great time enjoying the process...who cares!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I peeked a little at yours and you are so talented, lady! I hope you don't mind if I am a new follower. :)

  3. I have to disagree with you, Pauline...I think this painting is looking pretty good from where I'm sitting. I do hope you finish it...there's a lot of potential there. :)

  4. I have been here so many times! I agree with the others though - I think this is better than you're giving yourself credit for. I'd maybe be inclined to use some thin black to outline a few things and make them stand out, but I'm having a bit of a pen obsession right now so that may just be me. :)

  5. I love your attitude. I can learn so much from a day spent creating, even when none of that day's creations turn out the way I want them to.

  7. I Agree with Rita and Serena Pauline - I was having one of those days yesterday and nothing worked for me, but now looking at your creation I understand what everyone else was telling me - imagine this work as someone else's, and you'll see all the talent, worth and effort in it. It is a beautiful piece Pauline, but even if you never like it then it still has huge value for you in it's creation x
